We are a friendly and sociable English conversation group. Foreigners with all levels of English are welcome! We would also like to invite native speakers (who can come for free!) to socialise and perhaps give a bit of a helping hand! A different topic is chosen each week and people are divided into pairs or small groups each with a similar level. This is a "Classic Philo Cafe". It happens once a month in a cafe in the Latin Quarter (Cafe de Flore). It is public, free (but you must buy a drink) and it lasts 2 hours from 7 to 9 PM on a wednesday. Topics are proposed by the attendees and then one of them is chosen on the basis of its interest as a topic for all. People speak one at a time (there is a microphone). This is a group for "independents" making what used to be called Films. Independent is a really wide-spectrum term, non-commercial to commercial, doc to experimental to publicity. Often it means that you aren't working for hire, which has an effect on everything from choice of subject to eventual copyright.
